From Student Attendee to Representative - Thadseja at UT LAUNCH

For Thadseja, UT LAUNCH was a meaningful full-circle experience. As a Marketing Coordinator and Teaching Assistant at U+, she had the opportunity to represent the organization at the same event she once attended as a UTSC student.

A year earlier, Thadseja remembered walking into UT LAUNCH feeling intimidated by the employers and students around her. One of the tables she visited was U+, where she met the people she would later work with. Reflecting on the experience, she shared, “Now being on the other side of that table was truly such a memorable moment for me and will always be a highlight of my term here.”

At the event, Thadseja spoke with students about U+’s mission, projects, and goals. Many students asked about job opportunities, the work environment and were curious about what U+ does to serve the community. This helped her strengthen her communication, networking, and confidence. She explained, “I had to learn to recall our company’s mission, projects and goals so that I could confidently speak about U+.”

Thadseja described UT LAUNCH as “an amazing networking moment in my career” as it allowed her to connect with others, work toward a common goal with her coworkers, and reflect on the work completed throughout her placement.

The experience also pushed her outside of her comfort zone. She shared, “I also developed my interpersonal skills by speaking to new people,” adding that she felt proud of herself by the end of the evening. 

When asked what advice she would give herself, Thadseja said she would tell herself “to be more confident in myself from the start.” Her experience at UT LAUNCH highlights the value of confidence, connection, and hands-on learning through community involvement.
