“Who wants Aux?” - February 22 Gavel Club Meeting

Welcome back Gaveliers!

This week's meeting was held by Nora and Divya on February 22 where the topic was Music. Our Word of the Day for this meeting was “Ariana Grande.” We kicked off the meeting with member introductions and Jokemasters started us off with some fun, lighthearted jokes to get everyone engaged.

Our Small Talkers shared thoughtful and interesting perspectives on music. One Small Talker discussed why music is good for us, including how it can support mood, focus, and overall well-being. They also shared examples of studies showing how music can support development, such as how learning to play an instrument at a young age may help with cognitive growth compared to children who have not had that experience. Another Small Talker shared their love for singer Ariana Grande, speaking about what they enjoy most about her music and style.

Our Speaker then gave a great speech about their favourite genre of music, explaining what makes it so enjoyable and why it connects with them personally.

During Table Topics, our Table Topics Master asked engaging questions such as: What is your favourite song? What is the longest playlist you have made? What is your favourite genre of music? What is your least favourite genre and why? These questions led to fun and meaningful responses from our Gaveliers.

Since we finished a little early, I had the Gaveliers each play 1-2 minutes of their favourite songs, and we continued the discussion by sharing our thoughts. This turned into an even more meaningful conversation, as members were able to express themselves through music and learn more about each other’s interests.

The meeting concluded with members picking their roles for next week’s meeting and our topic for next week: The Winter 2026 Olympics. We have weekly meetings on Sundays, from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EST!
