Volunteer Spotlight: Avonansh Kaur

Avonansh Kaur, a Website Development volunteer from Brampton, has been using their time with U+ to build technical, creative, and teamwork skills. Avonansh studied at Humber Polytechnic and is interested in making digital experiences more accessible and user-friendly.
Reflecting on their experience, Avonansh shared, “I love volunteering at U+! Working here has been a rewarding and ongoing experience.” Through website development, they have contributed to meaningful projects while strengthening their front-end design and user experience skills.
As a volunteer website developer, Avonansh gained hands-on experience using platforms such as WordPress, Google Sites, and Wix. They shared that this helped them learn how to “design, customize, and manage content efficiently.” Working with the team also improved their communication, problem-solving, and ability to adapt based on feedback.
One important lesson Avonansh learned was to focus less on perfection and more on improvement. If they could give advice to themselves before starting, they would say to “focus less on making everything perfect from the start and more on iterating based on feedback.”
A memorable highlight was seeing the onboarding website come together. Avonansh shared that the positive feedback from the team and new users made the project meaningful because “it showed that my work had a real impact.”
Overall, Avonansh’s volunteer experience has helped them grow personally and professionally. As they explained, it strengthened their technical skills, taught them how to collaborate effectively, and helped them develop front-end skills that are “directly applicable to game development.”

There is something approachable about discussing turning curiosity into a learning adventure through situations people can actually picture. An open-ended activity can make discovery feel more inviting than a task with one fixed answer. This is why I would approach learning through exploration with a specific question rather than a fixed expectation. I would be interested in a simple example, because it is often the ordinary details that make an idea memorable. How can a learning project keep curiosity alive while still providing direction?
What draws my attention to finding your way around Polish businesses is the possibility of making an unfamiliar subject feel closer to everyday life. Clear descriptions help readers distinguish what a business does from the language used to advertise it. It makes me curious about the practical side of Polish business information. I am more curious about the process than a polished result, because the steps in between are usually where questions appear. Which details matter most when comparing unfamiliar local businesses?
