Ogechukwu Ibelo, a Brand Ambassador from Calgary, is beginning her volunteer journey with U+ with a strong focus on learning, growth, and community impact. She is currently studying at Saint Mary’s High School.
Reflecting on her experience, Ogechukwu shared, “Volunteering with U+ has been a truly rewarding and enriching experience.” She appreciated the supportive training process and the opportunity to strengthen both her digital and leadership skills.
Through the mandatory training, Ogechukwu gained hands-on experience with Google Workspace tools, including Docs, Slides, Sheets, Calendar, Drive, and Gmail. She explained that this helped improve her “digital organization, communication, and collaboration skills.”
One of her biggest takeaways was the importance of confidence and initiative. If she could give advice to herself before starting, she said she would encourage herself “to be more confident, take initiative, and not hesitate to ask questions.”
A memorable highlight for Ogechukwu was completing the mandatory training. She shared that it was meaningful because it “marked the beginning of my journey with the organization” and made her excited about the impact she will be able to make.
Overall, Ogechukwu’s experience has helped her grow both personally and professionally. As she shared, volunteering helped her build “discipline, adaptability, and initiative” while reinforcing her interest in meaningful, community-focused work.
